A lightning show in Serenity Point, NC. This shot facing south from the end of the island, facing the New Topsail Inlet. Atlantic to the east, sound to the west.

We watched this wicked, but entrancing storm roll in from the southwest. In early July 2016, our home here was struck by lightning, right where I took this photo (over a thousand shots to get this one). The same storm struck a teenager--who I hope has recovered--and a police officer. You would think that they were struck at the same time; however, the teenager was already in route to the hospital when the officer was struck near the point.
